Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Event Marketing Specialist (Summer Student) to support our fundraising efforts through grant research, proposal development, and digital content creation. This role is ideal for a student interested in nonprofit marketing and communications, with a focus on securing funding through grants while amplifying fundraising initiatives through social media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations and corporations aligned with organizational goals,
- Create moves management of prospective funders, including deadlines and application requirements,
- Assist in drafting and editing grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation,
- Analyze funder priorities and past funding patterns to strengthen proposal strategy,
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather program data, impact metrics, and supporting content for applications,
- Track grant deadlines and coordinate timely submission of applications and required materials,
- Support preparation of grant reports by collecting data and summarizing outcomes,
- Develop and schedule social media content (e.g., posts, stories, short form copy) to support fundraising campaigns and donor engagement,
- Assist in creating digital marketing assets such as email content, graphics, and campaign messaging aligned with fundraising goals.
Skills:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field),
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills,
- Experience or interest in social media content creation and digital marketing,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media platforms and design tools (e.g., Canva) is an asset,
- Interest in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, and storytelling,
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
This vacancy is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs grant. In order to be eligible, youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period,
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment,
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
International students are other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.
Expected Compensation: Gross salary will be $17.60 per hour based on 35 hours per week. All payments are subject to the required statutory employee deductions.
