Position Summary
Safe Centre of Peel is currently seeking a Child and Family Resource Worker who will provides frontline reception, administrative, and child-focused support to ensure a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for children, caregivers, visitors, and partner agencies at the Safe Centre of Peel. This role facilitates developmentally appropriate activities for children, supports families by connecting them to relevant resources, and assists with day-to-day office operations. The CFRW works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality, client-centered, and trauma-informed services while maintaining confidentiality, safety standards, and accurate documentation.
The Child and Family Resource Worker reports to the Program Manager. This position will be based in Mississauga, Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, welcoming front-desk reception by greeting and directing visitors, managing inquiries, and maintaining a clean and welcoming reception and waiting area.
- Schedule client appointments, manage cancellations, and communicate appointment availability as required.
- Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, document management, and record maintenance.
- Maintain accurate client counts, data collection spreadsheets, and program-related documentation.
- Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate, child-focused activities for children of all ages.
- Support children’s emotional, developmental, and educational needs through safe, play-based approaches.
- Support caregivers by assessing child-related needs and connecting families to appropriate resources and referrals.
- Maintain safe, clean, and inclusive childminding spaces, ensuring equipment and toys meet safety and hygiene standards.
- Support and collaborate with volunteers and students, maintain supplies, participate in agency activities, and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related social service discipline or equivalent experience
Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate preferred. - Must possess 2+years of office-related experience
- Strong communication skills, ability to deal tactfully with children, families, employees, and visitors.
Knowledge of gender-based violence, its effects on children, child and youth victims/witness issues and comfort working with this population. - Flexible, creative, organized and motivated; able to take initiative and be a team player.
First Aid and CPR-C certification. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Outlook.
- Commitment to pro-feminist, anti-oppressive service approach.
- A second language is an asset.
- Enthusiastic, warm and friendly personality, with demonstrated client-service orientation.
- Independent and self-directed with the capability to operate with minimal direct supervision.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check
