Communication Assistant (Volunteer Opportunity)

Working alongside our member agencies, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto (CCAT) strives to address emerging community needs by collaborating with like-minded organizations. CCAT work is guided by Catholic Social Teachings and focuses on safeguarding life, respecting the dignity of every person, and building a just society.

We are currently seeking a dynamic, creative volunteer to join our team and assist with our social media and communications efforts. We support and learn from one another. If you’re interested in contributing your time for positive change in the community, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll get to do:

  • Helping to implement internal and external communications strategies and projects
  • Providing administrative/outreach support to internal teams
  • Drafting, creating, and posting social media and web content, and/or website design and content, according to the company’s social media strategy
  • Drafting and copy-editing highlights/ news stories of CCAT programs
  • Helping draft a 6-month communications calendar for all communication platforms

What you need to know/have:

  • Enrolled in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of social media strategies and media relations.
  • Above-average knowledge of various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Comprehensive experience with Office 365, Adobe Pro, Canva, WordPress, and other related software programs
  • Graphic design and Website design experience
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment.

Location: in-person at 1155 Yonge Street, Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario M4T 1W2

Time Commitment: 7- 14 hours per week for long-term commitment is ideal, 6 months or more
