Society of Sharing (SOS) is a non-profit organization that provides free services to isolated, lonely and frail seniors. All of our programs are designed to reduce social isolation, promote social connection, and improve the well-being of housebound clients.
We are searching for a full-time Recruitment Specialist who will be responsible for increasing the number of volunteers associated with the Society of Sharing. This position reports to the Executive Director, and will be based in Toronto, Ontario.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the recruitment strategy for volunteers across all our programs, developing compelling opportunities tailored to attract individuals passionate about senior care.
- Utilize diverse channels such as online platforms, community events, public presentations, and networking to reach and engage potential candidates.
- Strategically advertise volunteer opportunities across various social media platforms to reach a diverse audience of potential volunteers.
- Implement the Employee Volunteer Program with various organizations.
- Conduct pre-screening interviews and in-person interviews to ensure alignment with our organization’s mission and values and facilitate reference checks and background checks.
- Develop materials such as brochures, flyers and forms for recruitment purposes as well as develop volunteer resources (Informational and training materials).
- Assist the Program Coordinators with special events and event planning, as well as encourage volunteer participation.
- Collaborate with Program Coordinators to match volunteers with suitable programs based on their skills and interests.
- Oversee the onboarding process, including transitioning training back to in-person sessions, and providing necessary support for volunteers assigned to specific programs.
- Organize and facilitate the Volunteer Mandatory Training and the monthly “lunch & learn” sessions for on-going volunteer skill development.
- Manage and grow the Society of Sharing’s social media presence, developing creative content and strategies to increase online engagement, visibility, and reach.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Social Services, Community Development, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in volunteer recruitment, community outreach, recruitment, or a related role.
- Knowledge of volunteer screening, orientation, training, and onboarding processes Experience in volunteer recruitment, engagement, or management, preferably within the context of community-based organizations or senior care.
- Experience in develop and implement recruitment strategies across various channels, including online platforms, community events, and networking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster a sense of community among volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Location: 25 Linden Street, Toronto, ON, M4Y 1V5
Compensation: $23.46 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and occasional overtime is required.
